Patented Drywall Repair Tool:
These images show how easy it is to repair drywall damage with beautiful, invisible results every time...

Drywall Repair ToolDescription: Inventor Wally Trudeau created this new tool to make properly and safely fixing a hole in wallboard a breeze. His patented drywall repair tool is comprised of a hole saw with side shavers specially designed and tested  to leave a clean, tapered hole after removal of damaged drywall material. The anticipated tearing or balling of surface wallboard paper has been eliminated during product design, development, and testing. Finished tools are beautifully powder coated with a highly durable, gloss finish projecting "high quality and value" to consumers and professionals, and the "Made in USA" message can be part of your labeling.

A perfectly matched patented repair plug fills the hole, leaving the wall ready for a 1/16 inch skim coat using drywall mud. Light sanding and painting are all it takes to finish the repair. This thin mud layer was designed into the technology to assure a very short drying time. Professionals no longer need to make multiple visits to the job site for sanding or secondary skim coating, and paint crews can now effect instant repairs rather than re-schedule work pending wall damage repairs. First pass success achieving a flat, defect free surface, ready for painting, is easily achieved by following simple directions. Dust and dirt are minimized and no drywall tape, mesh, or screening is required. Wally's patented tool and process eliminates the ugly raised surface typical with old style repairs using out dated technology.

Tapered hole after removing wall damage.Damaged wallboard is instantly removed up to and exceeding door knob sized holes. The basic 4 inch hole size is designed to remove 95 percent of the most commonly occurring  damage. In addition, sometimes holes are needed for electrical work, insulation, drying after flooding, etc. Repair tools designed to drill these smaller hole sizes, including lower cost, smaller plugs, or our new plug designs which eliminate pre-mudding labor, may be easily manufactured for these professionals and industry groups. The wall board in this picture is ready for final repair using the patented repair plug, included in a kit with the tool and sold separately in retail or bulk quantities.

Tapered hole from Wally's DPM drywall repair toolThe patented tapered plug will not fall through the repair hole into the wall. This simple patented idea puts an end to strings, cardboard, coat hangers, and  the other crazy things homeowners think up to try to hold mud in place just to fix a hole in the wall. Wally's clever tool and method makes wall repair a breeze for everyone. Once installed with plug mud, the plugs will not pop out or crack. Our "pop test" results with our listing of tested mud materials are available; and, we invite you to try the tool yourself to confirm our results.

Although 95 percent of typical home, apartment, and office wall damage can be easily repaired using the standard tool, we soon discovered that even larger holes or long gouges can be repaired by installing a first plug covering part of the damage, then letting the mud harden before drilling out the remaining damage and installing a second repair plug. This is the simple reason we recommend including two plugs with each repair tool sold.

For pulling electrical lines, phone, or data cables, the hole, approximately 3 inches measured on the inside of the wall, is still large enough to accommodate cable snakes and hands. After the installed repair plug is skim coated and sanded, the final repair is totally invisible, beautifully restoring the wall (see cross section photo below). The thin, fast drying skim coat also means the installer will not be required to return the next day to finish the repair.

Crosss section. This cross section cut taken after sanding shows the flat result. The standard repair plug is "buttered" with drywall mud, then easily inserted for a prefect fit. Sitting about 1/16 inch below the wall surface, a thin skim coat finishes the job and is usually ready for finish sanding within an hour or so. Use of a hair dryer heat gun, used correctly and safely, can speed up drying time very effectively. After finish sanding, there is never an ugly mound left to tell the world the wall was repaired. Optional quick setting mud and some gypsum plaster mixes or other wall products can also speed up the drying time, even providing measurably higher "pop test" results at lower costs than standard, pre-mixed drywall mud options. Our repair plug designs will fit 3/8, 1/2 (shown), and 5/8 inch thick wallboard as well providing an effective option for plaster and lath walls.
